East Boldre Parish Council Mark End of Fencing Project
On Sunday 27th November 2011 the parish council held a small event to thank all involved with a recent project to replace rabbit and stock fencing at one of the allotment sites. The funding mainly came from NFNPA sustainable development fund with a generous contribution from Cllr Thornber (deceased) and the balance coming from the Parish Council.
Cllr Brian Mulhall, vice chair and lead councillor for allotments gave an excellent speech where he pointed out that, despite living in such a beautiful place, fencing such as this is necessary to keep the animals out which represents a large cost for this small parish. The fencing will enable the allotment holders to grow much more produce which will not be subjected to the rabbit raiding parties any longer.
The old fencing and foliage was removed by a party of volunteers from the allotment holders and Parish Council with the new fencing being erected by 'The Last Post' who did an excellent job. Cllr Mulhall said that all involved deserved "a huge thank you". He went on to also thank Bruce & Ruth McDermott from the allotment association and the Parish Clerk for all of the background administration.
