The East Boldre Community Hub Project is currently managed by steering group which will take the project through the planning and permission stage. We need volunteers for sub committees to take on the following responsibilities:
A fundraising group to raise the cost of building the hub. This will comprise two arms:
Local fundraising through village events and donations.
Grant applications to public bodies and private trusts. These will require a community Hub business case which needs to be developed. Anyone with prior experience of grant applications would be a welcome addition to our team.
A theatre group to research, advise and oversee the upgrade of our theatre facilities.
A shop team to research, advise on:
The layout and fitting of the shop and storage area.
How best to offer Post Office services.
Benchmarking other local shops to get ideas and understand our options.
The product range and local suppliers and producers.
The feasibility of a cafe and plastic-free product offering.
The business case including staffing, margins, turnover and running costs.
Setting up the Community Benefit Society.
A publicity and communications group to make sure the community is kept up to date on the progress of the project via newsletters, website, public meetings, etc.
Specification of Hall facilities and services - kitchen, lift, toilets, fitness/sports activities, heating, security and booking systems, fire exits etc.
Development of hub business plan to show long term viability
We are recruiting these sub-committees now so that we are ready to move forward as soon as planning permission is granted.
Further down the line when we are ready to build, we will need a team to oversee the building process and ensure the developments meets our needs.
No matter what your skills, if you are keen to get involved, we'd value your contribution. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Mike or Steve.
